Kris Robinson

Bio

Kris Robinson is an animal artist who lives and paints in Squamish, BC. Kris was born in Windsor and grew up in Barrie, Ontario. She studied Environmental Design at The Ontario College of Art & Design University in Toronto, and then went on receive her master’s degree in design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at Dundee University in Scotland, in 2005. Right after, she moved to the west coast where she worked in architectural and product design before she turned her attention to the canvas and began painting full-time.

Her motivation for painting comes from a lifetime of caring for animals. She wanted to focus on subject matter that would make people happy, and dogs have an inherent ability to do that. Her design background influences Kris’ painting style. She paints bold and often colourful acrylic portraits on oversized canvases, shaped by elements of graphic art and design. For Kris her works come alive when she paints the eyes, and describes it as “a glimpse into their souls”.
