Bio

Burns Jennings lives on tranquil Bowen Island, one hour from Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia. Jennings is a graduate from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts and Environmental Studies. He uses his background to design and build art quality, environmentally responsible furniture, millwork and build-ins for home and office.

Jennings carefully considers form and function and uses distinctive materials to enhance all furniture styles. This purposeful selection of materials, some locally harvested and milled, others recycled, found or reclaimed yield beautiful, functional and environmentally superior pieces of artisan furniture. Moreover, by using both traditional and modern joinery techniques in addition to durable finishes completed projects will endure and be enjoyed for generations.

Burns will work collaboratively with clients to design artistic furniture pieces to suit their unique aesthetic. The quality of his craftsmanship, attention to detail, pride in workmanship, and passion for solid design will be evident upon delivery.

“The artists that have influenced my current body of work include George Nakashima, James Krenov and Tage Frid. They have influenced my aesthetics and have helped me establish my own unique style. As an artist I am always growing and exploring the connections between form and function. I am inspired to create visually impactful pieces of functional art that incorporate graceful forms using locally harvested or found materials and utilize traditional and modern joinery techniques.”
